The Baker Center

 Scope:  Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical

Owner: Travelers Cos. Inc

Location: Downtown Minneapolis

The Baker Center, owned by New York City-based Travelers Cos. Inc., covers an entire block bounded by Marquette Avenue, Seventh Street, Second Avenue and Eighth Street.

With the anticipated availability of nearly 450,000 square feet of office space and some modern renovations that include new street-level entrance, common area improvements, exterior glass curtain wall, new conference room, fitness space and a walkout to a rooftop terrace, this renovation is sure to attract another generation of office users to downtown Minneapolis. Tenant office spaces on each floor are designed with a collaborative layout with exposed ceilings and state of the art lighting.

NAC self-performed the plumbing, HVAC, and electrical. With the majority of ductwork exposed, this project presented the unique challenge of incorporating HVAC components into the distinctive aesthetics of the space; meaning it had to be functional as well as pleasing to the eye.
